Produced in the hillside vineyards of Plessiva in Collio, Friuli Venezia Giulia, the 2024 Pinot Grigio DOC Collio from Isidoro Polencic is a refined and terroir-driven interpretation of Pinot Grigio that moves far beyond the light, simple style commonly associated with the varietal. Grown on Collio’s renowned ponca soils of marl and sandstone, the wine combines richness, minerality, and precision with remarkable balance.
Bright straw yellow with delicate copper reflections typical of high-quality Pinot Grigio, the nose opens with aromas of ripe pear, white peach, citrus blossom, and yellow apple layered alongside hints of almond, wet stone, and subtle floral notes. On the palate, the wine is textured yet vibrant, showing refreshing acidity, elegant salinity, and impressive depth. Flavours of orchard fruit, lemon zest, crushed minerals, and delicate spice lead into a long, clean, mineral-driven finish. Extended lees aging enhances both texture and complexity while preserving freshness and purity.
Unlike mass-market Pinot Grigio styles, Polencic’s interpretation emphasizes structure, site expression, and gastronomic versatility, making it an exceptional food wine.
Perfect with seafood, crudo, light pasta dishes, grilled vegetables, sushi, and delicate white meats.
