Plessiva Isidoro Polencic - 2024 Friulano DOC Collio

Grown on the iconic ponca soils of Collio in Friuli Venezia Giulia, the 2024 Friulano DOC Collio from Plessiva Isidoro Polencic is a textbook expression of one of Italy’s most distinctive native white grapes. Produced from hillside vineyards in Plessiva near Cormòns, the wine reflects the estate’s signature balance of richness, minerality, and precision. The marl and sandstone soils contribute remarkable depth and salinity, while extended lees aging adds texture and complexity. 

Brilliant straw yellow with golden reflections, the nose opens with layered aromas of pear, grapefruit, acacia blossom, chamomile, and subtle balsamic herbs alongside delicate menthol notes. On the palate, the wine is broad yet energetic, showing impressive minerality and structure with flavours of yellow orchard fruit, citrus peel, almond paste, and gentle spice. The finish is long, savoury, and distinctly almond-driven, a hallmark of great Collio Friulano.

Unlike more fruit-forward international white wines, Polencic’s Friulano leans into texture, terroir, and elegance, making it both highly food friendly and age-worthy.
