The 2019 Riserva from Azienda Agricola Verbena represents the pinnacle of the estate’s winemaking, crafted only in select vintages and aged with the utmost patience and care. Sourced from mature Sangiovese vines rooted in the rolling hills of Montalcino, this wine reflects both the nobility of the terroir and Verbena’s dedication to structure, finesse, and aging potential.

In the glass, the wine displays a deep garnet core with hints of ruby at the rim. The bouquet is commanding yet refined—dried cherries, potpourri, balsamic herbs, and worn leather unfold gradually, joined by undertones of cacao and forest floor. On the palate, the Riserva is full-bodied and deeply layered. Firm but integrated tannins carry flavours of dark plum, dried fig, tobacco leaf, and iron-rich earth, all balanced by a vibrant acidity that drives the wine’s length and energy.

The 2019 vintage was celebrated for its balance and purity, and this Riserva stands as a wine built for the cellar. It will evolve gracefully for 15 to 20 years, gaining nuance and depth with time. Recommended to be decanted for at least an hour before serving.
